Kenya Methodist
University Medicine Student’s Association (KeMUMSA) was established in January
2013. This was after the realization of the importance of uniting all medical
students.
Our vision is “To be a
leading medical students association in Kenya and in East Africa that nurtures
and produces professional and medical doctors who are all rounded and impact
positively to the society.”
Our mission is “To
promote the wellbeing of members and the society at large on Academic , Spiritual,
Psychological and Social aspects.”
Our aims and objectives
are:-- To speak for medical students in matters of administration.
- To create a forum for medical students to give back to the society.
- To create a unifying forum for medical students.
- To establish a forum and formula for working in synergy with organizations within and outside the school of medicine.
- To sensitize against unhealthy habits such as drug abuse and alcoholism.
- To contribute towards a holistic life to all students by nurturing gifts and talents.
- To encourage support for research activities among students.
- To educate community on medical issues.
- To develop intellectual ability, competence, values and professionalism among medical students.
Membership:-
All students by virtue of being admitted to
the faculty of medicine for a course leading to awarding of a bachelor of
medicine and bachelor of surgery degree at Kenya Methodist university and
having filled in the registration form and having paid a registration fee. The registration
fee is Kshs. 500 p.a. (Kshs. 200 1st and 2nd Trimester
and Kshs. 100 3rd Trimester)
Our association is open
and non – medical students can become members if they meet the following
criteria which falls in two categories:-
- Associate Members – duly admitted post graduate students and all the teaching staff in and outside KeMU. Their registration fee is Kshs. 1000 or any amount proposed by members from time to time.
- Honorary Members – any person(s) who in the opinion of members is approved to have rendered valuable services and contribution to the organization, university or society.
